ESD gloves are used to discharge static electricity and are available in both rubber and textile material, with baked-in or woven-in carbon fibre threads. Since static discharge can cause serious accidents, e.g. when handling easily flammable liquids and volatile gases, an ESD glove must meet stringent requirements on its ability to diffuse static electricity. Sensitive electronic components can also be damaged, or even destroyed, if they are fitted without using ESD protection. Therefore always check that the glove has CE approval as an ESD glove!
