Right balance between price and quality

Comfort, safety and function. But effective support is also of great importance in co-operating with customers, where the offshore industry is a key element. “Demands on personal protective equipment are high and, in this respect,we value our collaboration with Ejendals,” says Charles Lye.

He is departmental manager at ProffPartner Stavanger Verktyg, a company that was founded back in 1919 and, over the years, has developed into one of the leading companies supplying requisites to the industry in West Norway. Customers include companies in a large number of different sectors, with offshore being an important segment. Charles Lye emphasises that Stavanger Verktyg works across the board. “We aim to supply a wide range of products, but we sell on quality, not on price. Which is why we have chosen to work with well-established and well-known suppliers.”

The right balance

But he points out, of course, it’s all about achieving a balance between price and quality, which in turn appeals to customers. It is a strategy that has proved successful. The ProffPartner retail outlet and warehouse in Stavanger contains virtually everything you need in the way of working clothes, protective footwear, protective gloves and other forms of personal protective equipment. Products from Ejendals form a large part of the range of footwear and gloves they sell, and Charles Lye is anticipating increased co-operation over the next few years. “The strict requirements imposed within the offshore industry and our other customers mean that we have to be able to offer a wide range of different shoes and gloves,” he says.

Power to protect

The requirements Charles Lye and his colleagues most frequently meet in their contact with customers are comfort, safety and function. Users want to be happy and to feel comfortable regardless of whether they work offshore, in construction, in an office or similar. And the products also have to be able to withstand dirt, wear and tear. “As you would expect, safety and the power to protect are also of great importance. Our task is to show customers the range of options open to them. In this respect, Ejendals meets our requirements extremely well.”

A success

For example, Jalas shoes have been a great success since their inclusion in the range. There is also a great deal of demand for protective gloves of a high quality with fingertip sensitivity. Here, Charles Lye sees competent suppliers as a resource offering support with, among other things, information about new products, performance, their use and other facts that ProffPartner can pass on to its customers. “This increases opportunities for continuing our development and meeting growing demands.”
