How to prevent Athlete's foot

The fungus thrives where it is moist and hot. There are several things you can do to prevent athlete's foot.

Athlete's foot is a common problem during the warmer seasons. This skin infection is caused by fungus and usually starts between your toes.
Signs and symptoms often include itching, scaling, cracking and redness. In rare cases the skin may blister.

The fungus thrives where it is moist and hot. There are several things you can do to prevent athlete's foot:

  • Wash your feet every day and dry thoroughly, even between the toes.
  • Change socks every day.
  • Preferably use socks that are not so tight.
  • Avoid tight shoes and rubber boots.
  • Use slippers in swimming pools and changing rooms.
  • Wash socks at 60 degrees.
