Benötigen Sie Schutzklasse S3 oder S1P?

Benötigen Sie Arbeitsschuhe mit der Schutzklasse S3? Oder ist ein Sicherheitsschuh mit der Schutzklasse S1P besser für Ihre Bedürfnisse geeignet?

Vermutlich sind Sie mit der Sicherheitsklasse S1 vertraut.

S1P verfügt über die gleichen Sicherheitsmerkmale wie S1, nämlich:

  • Zehenschutzkappe
  • Obligatorische Rutschfestigkeit
  • Vollständig geschlossener Fersenbereich
  • Elektrischer Durchgangswiderstand 
  • Energieaufnahmevermögen unter der Ferse

Nageldurchtrittschutz
Der Nageldurchtrittschutz verhindert das Eindringen von scharfen Gegenständen in die Sohle des Sicherheitsschuhs. So müssen Sie sich keine Sorgen um Fußverletzungen durch Nägel oder andere scharfe Gegenstände machen.

But what does S3 have that S1P does not?

What really differs S3 from S1P is that the upper material has water protective properties:

WRU - Water repellent upper (EN ISO 20345:2012)
WPA - Water- penetration and absorption (EN ISO 20345:2022)
The standard for safety shoes EN ISO 20345: 2012 will be updated and will now instead be EN ISO 20345:2022.

If you do not need a water repellent upper part on your shoe, then you do not need a S3 safety shoe, and a S1P safety rated shoe will be enough.
One reason for not making all safety shoes with a water repellent upper part is due to ventilation. Many safety shoe models with S1P rating have small ventilation openings that helps keep your feet cool and comfortable.
