More Than a Job — A Lifestyle in the Field

Scanmast’s field engineers describe their work as a lifestyle. They travel across the country, often to remote locations far from towns or roads. They appreciate the freedom and variation, but the work also demands resilience — especially in harsh weather, strong winds, rain, and cold.

Safety is always the top priority:

  • They always work in pairs when heights are involved.
  • Every project begins with a thorough site and risk assessment.
  • They follow a detailed construction manual, supported by Scanmast’s engineering department that calculates load, wind tolerance, and structural requirements.
  • New technicians are trained by experienced colleagues and at Scanmast’s own training tower in Mora — including height-safety exercises.

The Products and What the Technicians Thought of Them

Working long days outdoors in cold, wet, and muddy conditions puts high demands on personal protective equipment. During the Torsång project, Scanmast’s field technicians had the opportunity to test some of our most popular PPE products: TEGERA PRO 9125 precision gloves and JALAS 9998/9998 GTX waterproof safety boots.

TEGERA PRO 9125 – Precision Gloves for Technical Work

Field engineers prefer thin gloves for installation and mounting work because they need excellent dexterity and fingertip control. TEGERA PRO 9125 fit their needs perfectly.

“I use this model often. It’s thin, durable, and perfect when you’re screwing and assembling.
In winter I switch to a lined version.”

JALAS GTX Safety Boots – Lightweight, Waterproof, and Stable

Both the JALAS 9988 GTX and JALAS 9998 GTX safety boots made an immediate impression. Coming from heavy low-cut safety shoes and rubber boots, the upgrade was significant.

Technicians highlighted:

  • excellent grip while climbing
  • waterproof GORE-TEX protection that kept feet dry in muddy terrain

“They felt very light and stable.”
