OEKO-TEX®
OEKO-TEX® ist eine weltweite Zertifizierung für Textilprodukte, die nachweislich frei von gesundheitsgefährdenden Schadstoffen sind. Im Rahmen der Zertifizierung werden die Produkte auf über 1000 gesundheitsschädliche Substanzen getestet. Die Tests werden von einem akkreditierten, von der OEKO-TEX® Gemeinschaft zugelassenen Forschungs- und Prüfinstitut durchgeführt.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100
OEKO-TEX® ist eine weltweite Zertifizierung für Textilprodukte, die die Unbedenklichkeit eines Produkts in Bezug auf gesundheitsgefährdende Stoffe bescheinigt. Textilprodukte können in allen Produktionsstufen zertifiziert werden, einschließlich Garne, Stoffe, Knöpfe, Reißverschlüsse und fertige Kleidungsstücke. Die Produkte werden auf über 1000 verschiedene Substanzen getestet, die als gesundheitsschädlich bekannt sind. Die Standards werden jährlich aktualisiert, um neue Substanzen zu berücksichtigen, die als gesundheitsschädlich identifiziert werden. Dabei kann es sich entweder um illegale oder gesetzlich regulierte Stoffe handeln, aber auch um Stoffe, die noch nicht gesetzlich reguliert sind. Auch andere gesundheitsrelevante Faktoren wie der pH-Wert und die Farbechtheit der Textilien werden getestet.
Die Produkte müssen von einem akkreditierten, von der OEKO-TEX® Gemeinschaft zugelassenen Forschungs- und Prüfinstitut getestet und zertifiziert werden. Die Zertifizierungen müssen jährlich erneuert werden, und OEKO-TEX® führt Audits der zertifizierten Unternehmen durch. Zusätzlich werden stichprobenartig zertifizierte Produkte auf dem Markt überprüft.
Auch wenn das vorrangige Ziel der OEKO-TEX-Zertifizierung darin besteht, die Produktsicherheit für den Menschen zu gewährleisten, ist es wichtig zu wissen, dass viele für den Menschen schädliche Chemikalien auch negative Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt haben. Daher trägt die Zertifizierung indirekt auch zum Umweltschutz bei.
