EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR): How Ejendals is acting to comply with and protect your supply chain
The European Union’s new deforestation-free regulation introduces strict requirements for tracing raw materials and proving responsible sourcing. This page outlines how the legislation applies to rubber-based products and explains what it means for compliance, timelines, and the measures Ejendals has put in place to meet the updated standards.
What is the EUDR?
In 2023, the European Union introduced a new law on deforestation-free products (EUDR) with the aim of reducing global deforestation, cutting greenhouse gas emissions and halting biodiversity loss (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115).
Which Products are affected?
Products made of natural rubber/latex are affected. Natural latex comes from trees, such as Pará rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) and Gutta-percha (Palaquium). The relevant EUDR gloves are identified by customs tariff numbers: for instance “ex 4015”. These products are made solely of natural latex, such as latex disposables and some latex chemical protection gloves. Consequently, only a small subset of our products are affected.
Synthetic rubber products (e.g., nitrile, neoprene) are not derived from trees and thus not part of this regulation.
When is the EUDR effective?
The EU has extended the compliance deadline for medium and large companies like Ejendals to 30/12/2026.
- The regulation impacts products placed on the market after the effective date (imported into the EU).
- Products in stock in the EU on the effective date can continue to be resold in the EU lawfully (already placed on market but not made available yet).
- There is no phase-out of the products already lawfully on the market.
Ejendals has taken concrete actions to confirm our commitment towards sustainable latex sourcing:
- Trace and verify supply chains to ensure compliance.
- Demonstrate that products are deforestation-free and produced in accordance with local laws, including labor rights, land use rights, tax, anti-corruption, trade, and customs regulations.
- Include a due diligence statement declaring that the products carry no or only negligible risk of non-compliance.

- Customers can obtain our due diligence statement reference numbers, including the country of production and geocoordinates of the plantation where the rubber was harvested via the EU’s Deforestation Information System to ensure compliance with the EUDR in your supply chain.
