Vi utforskar potentialen hos svensk ull i personlig skyddsutrustning
På Ejendals är innovation nära kopplat till hållbarhet och ansvar. När branscher rör sig mot mer hållbara lösningar utforskar vi kontinuerligt hur skydd, prestanda och miljöhänsyn kan gå hand i hand. En sådan utforskning är vårt deltagande i The Swedish Wool Initiative.
Ett samarbetsinitiativ för lokalt material
Swedish Wool Initiative är ett samarbetsprojekt drivet av Dalarna Science Park och Ax Foundation, med ambitionen att hitta nya, högvärdiga användningsområden för svensk överskottsull som för närvarande är underutnyttjad. Initiativet samlar expertis från olika områden för att utforska hur lokala, naturliga material kan spela en roll i framtida produkter.
Som en del av detta initiativ har Ejendals industridesigner, Anna Hedvall, bidragit till ett utforskande projekt med fokus på personlig skyddsutrustning tillverkad med svensk ull.
Inom projektet har Ejendals utvecklat en prototyp med svensk ull levererad av Ullkontoret. Prototypen tillverkas med nålfiltad ull från Nordifa, ett materialval som möjliggör struktur, hållbarhet och värmeisolering.
Designen utforskar hur ull kan hjälpa till att tåla hög kontaktvärme, samtidigt som den flexibilitet och komfort som förväntas i modern PPE bibehålls.
Prototypen har utvärderats genom tester som genomförts i Ejendals interna laboratorium.
Resultaten visar på ullens potential som funktionellt material i PPE avsedd för miljöer med hög värme.
