För att handsken ska ha touchscreenfunktion behöver den ha ett ledande material som efterliknar hudens egen konduktivitet.
I dag har de flesta smartphones en kapacitiv skärm som känner av förändringar i laddningsförhållandet vid beröring. När du trycker på skärmen med fingret eller det ledande materialet i handsken, påverkas elektronerna i skärmens elektrostatiska fält och genererar en knapptryckning.
I en stickad handske kan denna touchscreenfunktion införlivas på olika sätt. Exempelvis genom att tillsätta ledande material i doppningen och/eller stickningen med ledande fibrer i handskens fingrar.

Touchscreen funtionality for leather and synthetic gloves
When it comes to sewn gloves in leather or synthetic, there are a few other methods to get touchscreen functionality.
For leather gloves, we get the touchscreen function mainly in the coloring of the leather, so we add conductive material into the leather. Since the conductive material only needs to be on the surface of the glove, it is entirely possible to add touchscreen functionality to winter-lined gloves. E.g. TEGERA 7798.
For sewn synthetic gloves, the conductive material is usually added to the coating. E.g. TEGERA 520.

Touchscreen functionality does not mean that a glove is ESD approved!
It´s important to understand that touchscreen functionality on a glove does not mean that they are ESD or ATEX approved. For a glove to be ESD or ATEX approved, it´s required that the conductive material is continuous through all material layers, from the skin to the surface of the glove material.
