EU Ecolabel infördes 1992 för att främja utvecklingen och användningen av produkter och tjänster med minskad miljöpåverkan.
Produkter märkta med EU Ecolabel tillhör de mest miljöanpassade alternativen inom sina respektive kategorier. Märkningen tilldelas av oberoende organisationer utifrån miljökriterier som omfattar produktens hela livscykel. Kriterierna utvecklas i samarbete med flera berörda parter och godkänns officiellt av EU-kommissionen.
